Baby Drowns in Bathtub

A 10-month-old boy drowned while taking a bath with his 24-month old sister last month, prompting an investigation by the Dyersburg, Tennessee Sheriff's Department.

The child, whose name was not released, was taken to the Dyersburg hospital Thursday where he was pronounced dead.

Reports say the mother of both the 10-month old and a 24-month-old girl left both children alone while they were in a bath tub taking a bath. When the mother returned, she says she found the 10-month-old face down in the tub.

A preliminary investigation shows the death was accidental, but the Sheriff's Department has ordered an autopsy on the child and child protective services is now involved.
