A dive team recovered the body of a four-year-old girl who had been last spotted at the edge of the water at Monterey's County Nacimiento Lake on Sunday, July 3. The girl, Araceli Garcia of Greenfield, had been at the lake with her family when she was reported missing.

Once the girl was reported missing, the entrance to the lake was shut down in an attempt to find her. , while members of the Sheriff department, County/Cal Fire, the Monterey County parks department, search-and-rescue volunteers, a dive team and a detective team gathered to assist in the locating the girl.

The massive effort, involving more than two dozen people, looked for the girl, believing she had possibly been abducted or had wandered off, reports say. Three rescue boats were summoned from the Monterey County Park Rangers department and searched the lake, with divers eventually locating the body in about eight feet of water about 50 feet from shore.
