Area Reports Second Pool Death in Two Days

A Chico, California man drowned in pool just two days after a first droning was reported just a short distance away in Tehama County.

The man, identified by the Butte County Coroner's Office as Gary McKampson, 54, was found lifeless in the backyard pool by his mother, reports said. He had been in the pool alone. 

Emergency personnel tried to revive the man as he was transported to Enloe Medical Center, CA. He was later pronounced dead.

The first drowning death occurred at Black Butte Reservoir, when reports say Angel Valdovinos-Martinez, 14, dropped into deep water about 50 feet from shore and then went under. Family and other volunteers located the unconscious boy, and he was transported to Enloe Medical Center. The boy was pronounced dead a short while later.
