Korean College Student Drowns Celebrating World Cup Events

While celebrating South Korea's advance into the knock-out phase of the World Cup in Seoul, a 20-year-old college student drown in the nearby Han River.

The Korean student, identified only by Lee, his last name, drown when he and four friends leaped into the Han River in Seoul to celebrate Korea's entry into the 16-team round after a 2-2 draw against Nigeria, reports say.

Apparently, the student was not a good swimmer, and currents in the river were stronger than he anticipated, and he immediately found himself in trouble. Although rescued from the water within 15  minutes and transported to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, reports say.
