Vancouver Dock Worker Dies in Accident

A worker on the Seaspan Shipping terminal in Delta, Vancouver, Canada died last month after he fell into the Fraser River and drowned. The man, who was only identified as a mid-forties worker, was sent into the cold water as the dock equipment on which he was working malfunctioned and spilled him into the river.

The accident happened at about 7 p.m., reports say and it was unknown how long he had been in the water or who found the worker. Coast Guard divers pulled him from the water, following a search involving a police helicopter and tugboats. Although he received emergency medical assistance, he died at the scene. WorkSafeBC is investigating his death.
