Bodies Found in Lake Accident

Lake Weir divers found the bodies of two drowning victims at Carney Island Park recently. reports say. Unfortunately, reports also say the victims had evidently gone to the park as a memorial to another family member who died in a Sumter County mining accident.

Reports say nine members of the group went out on the lake when two children jumped from the boat to go swimming. One immediately had difficulty staying above water and panicked. Two other family members jumped from the boat and were able to get the child back on board. But one of the men, while trying to get to the woman, wasn't able to keep her from panicking and they both went under water.

It took a full day for the bodies to be recovered. They were identified as Pauline Yambao, 44, and Kenneth Stephens Sr., 55.
