Woman Found Competent for Trial

 

 

A 30-year-old woman accused of drowning her two-and-a-half-year old daughter has been deemed mentally competent to stand trial, reports say.

The woman, Claudia Andrea Pedreros, is accused of murder in the death of her daughter, Sophia, as well as child cruelty, reports say. She has entered pleas of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity, reports say.

Investigators have reportedly said that Pedreros was found one morning in May walking nude along the highway. She told officers she didn't know how she got to Trinity County. She also reportedly initially denied having a child or other family, but then later confessed to drowning the girl. The judge in the case appointed two psychologists, and eventually decided she waf fit to face trial.
