Above-Ground Pool Claims Life of Four-Year-Old

A plastic solar panel ended the life of a four-year-old child in Gouverneur County, New York last month. Police have ruled the drowning an accident.

Reports say that Thomas Keith Vanschaick, of Lisbon, NY, had been at a barbecue with his parents when the accident happened. The tragedy, which happened in an above-ground pool, occurred when the child wandered away from the main family group by himself.

Reportedly, he somehow slipped into the pool and got caught under its solar cover. He was reportedly found by his father, Charles T Vanschaick, as his mother, Sarah J. Cota, also searched for him.
